President: Lauren Swanson

Team competes nationally in parliamentary debate & individual speech events. Member of the National Parliamentary Debate Association and  American Parliamentary Debate Association. The team travels to 6-8 tournaments annually, including several national tournaments and invitational.

Model United Nations

The team competes in various Model UN conferences throughout the year. Students do intensive research on their assigned country and attend the conferences as delegates representing it. Other opportunities exist for students interested in international journalism and diplomacy. Extensive national leadership positions are available for members of Model UN. In 2002-2003, MUN delegate went to Chicago and New Orleans and will travel to Chicago in 2003 to represent the Marshall Islands.

 

Model Illinois Government

This club is similar to Model UN, but instead of mimicking a nation students are mock legislators to a state government. The MIG has its own student elected governor, Lt. Governor and other state officers. Students draft legislation, participate in a moot court, writing a state budget or other governmental components and journalism. The annual state convention is held at the end of February at the state capitol in Springfield.

ThinkLab -- Monmouth College Academic Quiz Bowl Team

ThinkLab is an component of Scotspeak, competing in various academic competitions throughout the year. They are members of National Academic Quiz Tournaments, Inc. (NAQT) and compete on the TRASH circuit.


Monmouth College Mock Trial Team

Launched officially in 2003-2004, MC Mock Trial will observe tournaments in 2003 and begin competing in 2004.
