TRACK & FIELD COACHES: Phone 309-457-2177 / E-mail: rogerh@monm.edu Women: Chris Pio, 10th year Phone 309-457-2175 / E-mail: chris@monm.edu Assistant Coach: Brian Woodard, 2nd year Assistant Coach: Toby Vallas, 1st year ROGER HAYNES is in his 16th season as the men's indoor and outdoor track & field coach and has directed the program to unparalleled success. The dominant team in the Midwest Conference since 1990, the Fighting Scots have won 6 of the last 8 indoor track & field conference titles, including the last four in a row (1995-96-97-98). Monmouth athletes have won over 80 individual and relay conference titles and the program can claim 23 NCAA Indoor National Championship qualifiers and 8 indoor All-Americans. A former school record holder in the high jump, Haynes graduated from Monmouth in 1982 and still holds the college record in the javelin throw (205'8"). He was inducted into the Monmouth M-Club Hall of Fame in 1997. Haynes also serves as an instructor in the Department of Physical Education and is the defensive coordinator for the football team in the fall. CHRIS PIO is the head women's track coach and works with the middle- and long-distance runners on both teams. He is also the head coach for cross country and serves as the college's sports information director. BRIAN WOODARD and TOBY VALLAS are both former Monmouth track athletes now on the staff as assistant coaches. They work with the sprinters, jumpers and hurdlers. |
