Monmouth made it three straight men's outdoor track and field team trophies and six consecutive overall with its victory at Grinnell. Balance and depth were the keys to winning for the Scots, who only won four individual events. Chris Sondgeroth won both the shot put and discus on his way to an outdoor All-American performance in the shot at the NCAA Nationals. Senior Aaron Venters led a Monmouth 1-2-3 sweep in the 3000-meter steeplechase and freshman Rich Johnson was a surprise winner in the 400 meters.
