1998 SEASON |
Head Coach : Rue Carthew, 7th year Phone: 457-2176; E-mail: kathy@monm.edu RUE CARTHEW enters his 7th season as the men's soccer coach in 1997 and has taken the program to new heights in recent years. In the fall of 1991 Carthew inherited a program which had never won more than four matches in a season and has since guided the Fighting Scots to four consecutive 10-win campaigns (1993-96), an MWC Southern Division title in 1996 and three postseason appearances in the MWC Conference Tournament (1992, '94, '96). His six-year record at Monmouth is 52-37-8 for a .577 winning percentage, easily the best in the history of the college. A native of Manchester, England, Carthew played soccer at the professional level in England for 15 years and coached several amateur teams before coming to the United States in 1983. CHRISTOPHER SWANSON joins the men's soccer coaching staff after completing his eligibility last fall. Swanson transferred to Monmouth as a sophomore and played three seasons as a member of the Fighting Scots soccer team, starting regularly at defensive halfback. |
