MIKE OLSON begins his 35th season of coaching collegiate wrestling and his ninth year at Monmouth in the sport's final year of competition before being eliminated from the college's athletic program in 1999-2000. Olson has coached over 400 dual-match victories in his prolific career, one of the highest current totals in any division, and guided the Fighting Scots to their first Midwest Conference championship team title in 1997. A former wrestling coach, football coach and athletic director at Jamestown State, Dickinson State and Upper Iowa before coming to Monmouth, Olson was graduated from Coe College in 1959. He was inducted into the NAIA National Coaches' Hall of Fame in 1991 and has also coached several exhibition teams in overseas competition. He also serves as the director of the college's Wellness and Fitness Center. Olson will become the head coach for the men's and women's golf teams next year.
