General Policies
The use of Monmouth College facilities is intended primarily for the support of the instructional program of the institution and to enhance the learning environment for students. These events would include programs sponsored by campus organizations, academic departments or affiliated organizations. Non-campus affiliated organizations may reserve Monmouth College facilities for programs, meetings and conferences by referring to the Event & Conference Services section. When applicable, a rental or service fee may be charged.

Monmouth College reserves the right to accept or decline the use of College facilities due to the time, place, and manner of use so as not to interfere with the mission and regular operation of the institution. The use of Monmouth College facilities and grounds must at all times conform to the following regulations and to local, state, and federal laws.

  • Skateboards, roller blades, and skates are not permitted inside the Stockdale Student Center.

  • Skateboarding is not permitted on the outside terraces in front of the Stockdale Student Center. Recreational activities, such as frisbee and hackeysack, are not permitted inside the Stockdale Center.

  • The use of candles or other lighted objects is generally not permitted. Exceptions to this policy may be granted from the Stockdale Center Office.

  • Only student organizations registered with the Involvement Center are allowed to reserve College facilities. Student organizations must be currently registered as an organization.

  • Sound equipment must not disrupt normal functions of the college, including academic buildings, the residence halls or disturb the surrounding community. Band functions and/or functions involving the amplification of music are restricted, with exception approved by the Associate Dean of Students & Director of Campus Events.

  • Outdoor dances and concerts must have prior approval of the Associate Dean of Students & Director of Campus Events. Other special events such as pep rallies, ceremonies, or recreational activities which include the use of bands and/or amplification equipment may be held in approved locations only with prior approval of the Stockdale Center Office.

Banners

  • Banners in the Stockdale Center are restricted to campus activities and/or Monmouth College related functions, except during an off-campus group conference.

  • The Stockdale Center office must approve banners.

  • Campus groups may hang one banner per event, and all banners should have the  name or logo on the banner.

  • Banners are restricted to the mailroom and brick walls in the lower level lobby area.

  • General information banners may be hung for a maximum of 14 days. Date specific banners will be removed 48 hours after the advertised event date.

  • Set-up and removal of banners is the sole responsibility of the group. The banner area is checked daily, and banners will be removed and discarded as needed to comply with this policy.

  • Hints for a good banner: Use bright colors and make lettering large; use stencils if possible; avoid brown paper.

Vendors

  • A vendor whose business interest has some relationship to Monmouth College’s Mission and Purpose will be permitted to sell items in the Stockdale Center lobby or Dunlap Terrace. All vendors and sponsoring organizations must adhere to the policies. NO vendor will be permitted to sell on College property without receiving permission from the Stockdale Center Office.

  • Monmouth College reserves the right to limit the number of vendors on campus daily. In addition, Monmouth College will not grant any vendor campus exclusivity.

  • All vendors must submit 10% of total sales to the Stockdale Center Office staff member at the end of the selling period. This may be in the form of cash or check made payable to Monmouth College.

  • Due to space limitations, only two (2) vendors will be permitted to sell in the Stockdale Center lobby.  Up to four (4) vendors will be permitted to sell on the Dunlap Terrace.

  • Monmouth College reserves the right to reject any or all vendors as its interests may require.

  • The vendor will be provided with two (2) six-foot tables and up to four (4) chairs on the day of the sale. Each vendor must also adhere to the maximum table allotment, regardless of whether they use the Stockdale Center’s or have brought their own.

  • Vendors must contact the Stockdale Center Office to obtain the necessary on-campus parking permit. Payment for violations of MC parking regulations is the responsibility of the vendor. The Stockdale Center is not responsible for parking violations.

  • All sales must be in compliance with Monmouth College guidelines and vendors must comply with the requests of the Stockdale Center staff.

  • Vendors cannot post or hang any materials on the painted or glass surfaces of the Stockdale Center. Banners, flyers, and signs may not be affixed to the building, benches, trees, or railings.

  • Absolutely NO credit card vendors.

When posting signs, posters or miscellaneous materials in the Stockdale Student Center, please follow these instructions:

  • The Stockdale Center office must approve all materials. Any signs posted without the Stockdale Center Approved stamp will be removed.
