Orientation Leader Qualifications:
- Complete
Introduction to Liberal Arts
- Maintain a
2.5 overall grade point average
- Be in good
disciplinary standing
- Enjoy
leading small groups
- Demonstrate
effective communication skills
- Enjoy being
part of a team
- Comfortable
addressing groups of people (students, families, faculty, etc.)
- Desire to be
a part of a high energy, fast paced program
- Have a sense of
humor, enthusiasm and a positive attitude about Monmouth College and
the orientation process.
- Enjoy having
fun!
Orientation
Leader Responsibilities:
- Attend and
actively participate in all training sessions.
- Participate
in at least one of the SOAR (Summer Orientation and Registration)
programs. June 6, 7 and 13 & 14, 2008.
- Assist with
the implementation of New Student Orientation program in August.
- Provide
information to new students and their families.
- Assist new
students in their transition to life at Monmouth College through
academic and social interaction.
- Be available
to new students throughout the orientation program.
- Continue to
make contact with the new students in your group throughout the fall
semester.
- Participate
in/lead the On-going Orientation programs for your group.
- Attend
dinner at the Quinby House with your group.
Selection
Process:
- Applications
will be available online or in the Stockdale Student Center Office
beginning in February.
- Applications
due into the Stockdale Student Center Office Friday, March 7, 2008.
- Interviews will
be held March 17 - April 4, 2008.
- Applicants will
be notified April 7, 2008.
Important Dates:
- SOAR
programs - June 6, 7, 13, 14, 2008
- Spring Training
Meeting - April 15, 2008
- August Training
- August 18 - 21, 2008
- Move In Day
- August 23, 2008
Compensation:
- Orientation
Leaders will receive an Orientation shirt to wear throughout
orientation.
- Meals and
housing will be provided during all SOAR and Fall Orientation
programs.
