Film: A Critical Introduction (2nd Edition) ISBN-10: 0205645623; ISBN-13: 978-0205645626 by Pramaggiore and Wallis (Please note: The MC Bookstore is selling the first edition. I will update the syllabus to include page numbers for either edition. I suggest you purchase the second edition if you have a choice).

2. Course Objectives:

To use language to discuss production concepts effectively whether as an actor, director, critic, designer or technician.

To describe the effects on an audience of a theatrical production or film resulting from artistic choices of author, director, designers and actors

To demonstrate familiarity with historical and contemporary context (e.g. political, cultural, social) of dramatic literature and film
To encourage and develop your appreciation of dramatic art whether it is viewed on the stage, screen, or tube.

To gain a working knowledge of genres and terminology of dramatic art and cinema.
To develop competence in criticism of dramatic art
