From the CORNFIELDS to the RICE PADDIES:
Oral
Histories of Illinoisans from the Vietnam
Era
This website is the outgrowth of Monmouth College's
History of the Vietnam Era course taught by Dr. Stacy A. Cordery. All of
the interviews were conducted by students in the class. It is our hope to
contribute to the growing body of information on the Vietnam era by
concentrating on the experiences of people from Illinois--those directly
involved in or touched by the war, and those who considered themselves
bystanders. Such a geographical focus should help us understand how the
Midwest responded to America's longest war, and provide a context for further
study and reflection.
