(Effective Listening Skills) 1. Who - High school students - High school teachers - High school administrations - Employers - Colleges / Universities - Family members and friends 2. What - Program period: One week. 20-30 minute sessions each. Day 1: Introduction: Games (Telephone game), Activities, Getting to know trainers and trainees. Introduction to the listening process (Business Communication, 133) Day 2: Types of effective Listening: sensing, attending, understanding, remembering, paraphrasing. How to improve listening skills Road blocks to effective listening Day 3: Mini Training Workshop Putting into action what we learned Scenario: Plane crash in the arctic. (Team Work: listening and decision- making) Day 4: External and internal distractions The communication model Day 5: Final Training activity workshop We pair them up. We guide them with discussion questions We have them share with each other and how they use their effective listening skills to communicate. Final: We see how they progress on the telephone game. 3.
