    • How does each of these qualities reflect, result from or represent your interactions with others in your life.

      • Who helped you develop this quality?  or helped you realize you had this quality?
      • What kind of interactions have them most impact?
      • What sorts of people have the most influence on your identity?  etc.)
      • What factors other than people have influenced your identity

    • Form groups four groups of six to discuss the question above.

Have a recorder keep track of

      • what most of you have in common and
      • what are differences in your “identity development experiences.”

Report your conclusions back to the class.

Homework Assignment for Friday

Between now and class on Friday, find someone who has spent a significant amount of time in a culture other than the U.S.  (That person could be an international student here at Monmouth or an MC student or teacher who has spent several months in another country or someone you know from home. etc.)

Have a discussion with that person to discover at least one example for each Component of the "other" Culture that is different from the U.S.  What do these differences say about life in the other culture?  Come prepared to discuss your findings
