  Goals of the Research Process

  • Get to know data-bases – what’s where
  • Evaluate sources (grounds)
  • Practice citing sources at a college level (honesty/credibility)
  • Improve using evidence to make arguments (claims) – don’t be a led by others
  • Create YOUR OWN cases/arguments – thesis statements
  • Develop your reasoning abilities (warrants)

  • in a position to know what he/she is talking about

  • capable of accurate judgments (i.e. possesses appropriate professional skills)

  • not biased or paid

  • truthful in reputation
