Course Policies

You are responsible for all assigned reading material whether or not it is discussed in class and all lecture material whether or not duplicated by readings. Class attendance is expected, although excusable absences will not count against you. You do have the responsibility of notifying me in advance about all scheduled conflicts. If you are sick enough to miss class, please see a doctor and bring a note from him or her when you return to class. You are encouraged to ask questions in class. Academic dishonesty will not be tolerated and will result in automatic failure of this course. This includes copying others' work, cheating on tests, or any form of plagiarism. If you are uncertain whether you are plagiarizing, see me in advance of turning in the assignment. I abide by the policy outlined in the Scots Guide. Late assignments will not be accepted, unless prior arrangements are made and there are extenuating circumstances. On days when in-class activities are scheduled such as speeches or group discussions, attendance is required of all students. Grade deduction may occur for inexcusable absences on those days. During speech rounds there is a very tight schedule--consequently you must be prompt and prepared for those activities. Excused absences will not permit you to make up scheduled assignments except under extraordinary conditions. By enrolling in this class, you are accepting these course policies as a contract which you agree to uphold.
