I.    Definition: The process of understanding and sharing a common meaning

        A.    Process because it is constantly changing and reforming as speakers and listeners exchange messages.

        B.    Communication comes from Latin "communicare" (to make common)

        C.    Communication is inevitable

                1.    There is no way to avoid communicating

                2.    Any action you do or noise you make communicates something

        D.    Communication is irreversible  

                1.    Anything you communicate can not be uncommunicated

   II.    Message involves at least two things

                    1.    the substance of the message including meanings and definitions

            B.    Relationship

                    1.    Perception of each other by the participants
