Team 1 Client Profile

Typical clients will come from All Information Systems, a small computer and advertising firm out of LaGrange, Illinois.  The firm specializes in web design and advertising for companies such as HP, Porsche, and several other diverse organizations.  The trainees will consist primarily of upper level management staff, which includes, but is not limited to, production managers, sales managers, and advertising managers.

As upper-level managers, the trainees are responsible for reporting for the firm’s CEO and to each other.  Each manager is also responsible for supervising a staff of 10 people operating below them and acting as a liaison between the CEO and personnel.

Each manager has completed a bachelor’s degree and a master’s program in their respective field.  Many have worked their way up through the company and have a good idea of how each area in the firm operates.  Typical number of years of work experience is 5-10 years.

Due to the fact that most managers have worked their way up through the company, they have some broad-based knowledge of the other areas of the firm and have had specific training in their own field.  However, they have not had previous training experience on working together as a management team.

The management team consists of men and women in their mid-twenties to late-thirties. The team has similar educational backgrounds, salaries, and personal backgrounds.  The firm is located in a populated suburb of Chicago and is competitive with other firms with similar reputations.  Therefore, each manager has been on the “fast track” to success within the firm and is constantly learning about how to remain on the cutting edge of their industry in order to stay successful.

The management team has agreed that group communication skills training is necessary for them to learn how to work cohesively and more effectively.  As a result of completing the training program, the management team expects to become a stronger unit that will foster the same relationships throughout the firm.  The team would like to learn how to communicate in an environment focused on oral communication and communicate those messages more effectively amongst each other.  They would like to build a sense of camaraderie and team work in the workplace, moving away from the traditional vertical communication pattern and more towards a round-table discussion forum.
