Why should you donate Bone Marrow Stem Cells?

• Cancer patients who have undergone chemotherapy and radiation often lose many good blood cells in the process.  They need donated bone marrow in order to replace the cells that were lost.
• In Leukemia patients, your bone marrow cells can actually work to fight against the cancer by attacking any lingering leukemia cells within the blood. 
• Without donors, cancer patients who could survive, wouldn't. You can literally save someone's life. What better reason is there than that?

How To Be a Bone Marrow Donor

• If you are at least 18 years old, you can register with the National Marrow Donor Program.

• You must fit certain health requirements.

• A blood sample will be taken and tested to find a match.

• When a match is found, you will be given a physical examination in order to determine whether or not you are healthy enough to physically handle donating and will give another blood sample to ensure an acceptable donation.

• Arrangements will be made to immediately concerning when and where the donation will be made.
