Brain Trust Homepage
Our mission statement:
Our collective presentation will incorporate how nature optimizes organisms’ reproduction and survival success. Furthermore, we will discuss the ways in which humans have developed processes in order to improve their lot in life through mean of genetic manipulation. We hope to provide a better understanding of the machinery of life and the human quest to attain the ideal.
Topics presented will include genetic engineering, genetically modified organisms, stem cells and stem cell manipulation, the process of evolution, and the nature of intelligence. All of these topics involve how human's have utilized their brains to figure out natural biological processes and provide possible methods of how society may improve upon the human condition.
We are the brain trust because we've use our brains to type intelligent information on web pages pertaining to this Class. Topics were researched individually, thoroughly, and magnificently. they were then presented to the class, and thoughtful ethical discussion ensued. These website will help supplement those discussions and provide a reference point for others seeking more information about the essence of perfection.

How do these topics relate to the ideal?
Evolution relates to the ideal in that the mechanism for evolution, Natural Selection, is the theory that the environment chooses ideal alleles in population.
By utilizing stem cell technology, scientists can hopefully correct the "mistakes" that nature (by means of natural selection) has made, or improve upon our established medical progress, and bring humans closer to our notion of what the "ideal" human may be.
Genetically modified organisms can assist humanity in their quest for the ideal through the obtainment of a healthier diet and ridding the world of some of those people who are stricken by hunger and poverty. But one must keep in mind the fact that these advances could result in catastrophic damage to the environment and its biodiversity.
