Clause Activity
To provide students with more practice using clauses, you might divide the class into groups of three or six and give each group identical sets of cards with the following subordinate clauses:
whom I trust
if the concert is canceled
who won the race
that you bought
until the bell rings
where the treasure is hidden
Have each team write as many sentences a possible with the clauses in three minutes. Award a point for each correct sentence. You may wish to continue the game by having each team write clauses of their own on cards and give the cards to another team. Again, give the teams a time limit to write sentences with the clauses.
