Activity 2

Verbal Baseball

Directions:    Begin by dividing the class into two teams.  Flip a coin to see which team is up to bat first.  The teacher is always the pitcher.  The pitcher reads a sentence containing a verbal to the first person up to bat on the first team.  The batter must identify the verbal in the sentence and say what kind of verbal it is.  If the player gets it correct, they move to first base.  However, if they miss, that is one out for the team.  Three outs and the team is no longer at bat.  More challenging sentences could be worth doubles, triples, or even homeruns.  At the end of the game the team with the most runs wins!
