Not surprisingly, for your first essay in here I would like you to write an interpretation of one of the poems listed below.  You must use two or three literary devices to discuss the theme of the poem.  This means that you must state what you think that theme is somewhere in your introduction, then use your discussion of the elements to support that interpretive stance.  Remember, a theme is not simply the subject of the poem.  It is a generalization, in the form of a complete sentence, which the poem embodies.  Thus, it's not "about love"; it's demonstrates how "love overcomes difficulty only to die."

Please choose one of the following poems and have it well in hand for the pre-writing period on Monday, February 11.
