Placeholders are used when you don't have all of the information needed for a source. Instructions for inserting a placeholder are below.
- Click in the document where you want to insert the placeholder.
- On the References tab, click Insert Citation and select
Add New Placeholder.
- If desired, on the Placeholder name window, enter a different name for the placeholder. (The placeholder name must be one word.)
- Click OK.
- When you're ready to add the source information for the placeholder,
click the placeholder's down arrow and select Edit Source.
