‘A Christmas Carol’ to be performed at MC’s Wells

MONMOUTH, Ill.
— In what has
become a holiday tradition, Monmouth College and the Buchanan Center
for the Arts will team up to present a community production of
Charles Dickens’ "A Christmas Carol." Performances are scheduled for
Nov. 29 through Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the college’s Wells Theater.
There will also be a 2 p.m. matinee on Dec. 1.
Tickets are available at the Buchanan Center during regular
business hours or by phone at 309-734-5529. Prices are $4 for MC
students with IDs; $5 for senior citizens and high school and
elementary students; and $6 for the general public.
The production will be directed and designed by MC theater
professors Bill Wallace and Doug Rankin, respectively. The lead role
of Scrooge will be played by Trevor Newton, a freshman from Lemont.
Bob Cratchet is played by senior Brian Wilcoxon of Philo, and the
ghosts of Christmas Present and Years to Come are being played by
freshman Laurel Jane Buckley of Sublette and senior Valerie Key of
Glen Ellyn, respectively. The ghost of Christmas Past will be
portrayed by faculty member Kristin Larson.
The cast features approximately 50 college students and
townspeople and also includes Patrick Johnson and Connor Larson as
Tiny Tim and Jeffrey Cervantez as Jacob Marley.
Other cast members include Maggie Bell, Macy Benge, Madison Benge,
Brian Blanks, Maci Bryan, Shannon Chase, Mackenzie Clawson, Gareth
Cordery, Alison Coulter, Elizabeth DeMotte, Mike Diamond, Kate
Drost, Jane Easterly, Ellen Ehrenhart, Eric Enge, Cecilia Fasano,
Jane Fisher, Samantha Fisher, Kathy Good, Paige Halpin, Rachel Hawk
and Rissa Inman.
Rounding out the cast are Jacob Jennett, Haley Johnston, Jason
Lim, Kathy Mainz, Nick Mainz, Bekah Mc Combs, Amanda Mines, Aubreigh
Moon, Ashley Musser, Rachael Nuckles, Ross Plunkett, James Purtle,
William Purtle, Ricky Ray, Adrienne Schultz, Alyssa Shea, Breanna
