Saving & Backing Up Files

MC students, faculty, and staff have file storage space on the MC network's F: drive plus cloud-based file storage space in OneDrive through their MC Office 365 accounts.

Saving Files on the MC Network

MC students, faculty, and staff have their own personal and private storage space on the network's F: drive for their files. (Students have 500 MB of space, and faculty and staff have 10 MB of space.)

Files stored on the F: drive are backed up every night and can be accessed remotely by Student Remote Desktop or Remote Desktop (Faculty & Staff). For more information, see https://department.monm.edu/is/help-docs/remote-access/default.htm.

To save files in your personal space on the MC network's F: drive, log in to a campus computer and save your files in the My Documents folder.

Saving Files in OneDrive

MC students, faculty, and staff each have 1 TB of cloud-based file storage in their MC Office 365 OneDrive.

When you save your files in OneDrive, you'll be able to access them from any device that has Internet access. More information about OneDrive is available at https://department.monm.edu/is/help-docs/onedrive/.

Backing Up Files

It's strongly recommended that you keep at least two copies of important files in different locations for safekeeping. For example, you can use your My Documents folder on the network's F: drive for primary file storage and keep additional backup copies of important files on a USB drive, external hard drive, or in cloud storage.

IMPORTANT! Backing up files in another location is critical if you're saving them on your personal computer. Otherwise, your files may not be recoverable if your computer crashes.

Be sure to back up important files every time you work on them.
